Welcome!

ESCAPE is a career workshop for CNAS undergraduate students to explore careers in the sciences. This is an opportunity for students to engage with UCR alumni about careers in biotech, government, academia, health professions, and beyond!

The 2023 ESCAPE career expo is Saturday, April 29, 2023 in-person in the Student Success Center Multipurpose Rooms (1st floor). Check-in begins at 9:30 a.m. with panel discussions and networking activities beginning at 10:00 a.m.

During ESCAPE you will connect with CNAS alumni and career center mentors — and so much more. Explore career paths for science majors, such as biotech, government, academia and the health professions. Planning for your future starts now! 

This year's ESCAPE event is open to all STEM students.

Wajdie Ahmad

Wajdie Ahmad
Wajdie Ahmad is a Biopharmaceutical executive with over 23 years of industry experience. Mr. Ahmad is the Co-Founder in three early-stage Biotech startups and is an active investor and board member in biotech/pharma sector. Most recently Mr. Ahmad served as the co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Bonti from its inception in 2015 until the company was acquired by Allergen(NASDAQ:AGN) in October 2018 for the upfront payment of $195M (> 6x multiple on invested capital in 3 years) and subsequent milestone payments. At Bonti Mr. Ahmad was tasked with building and managing the Finance, HR, Legal, IT, R&D operations (CMC and non-clinical) along with the company’s clinical programs. In addition, Mr. Ahmad was instrumental in helping to raise over $36M in three structured financing rounds. Prior to Bonti, Mr. Ahmad worked at Allergan for over 13 years in various roles with increasing responsibility within the Biologics manufacturing and development groups, focusing on the development, characterization, manufacturing, clinical testing and commercializing of neurotoxins, which includes Botox and other biologics programs. Mr. Ahmad received his B.S. in Biology from the University of California, Riverside, and his M.B.A. in Management from the University of California, Irvine.
