CNAS Freshman Scholars Program

CNAS Scholars Fellows

What is the CNAS Scholars Fellows Program?

It's one of the programs in RISE (Research in Science and Engineering).

The CNAS Fellows program provides an opportunity for our scholars to perform scientific research in their first year at UC Riverside. Whether pioneering sustainability, developing drug delivery mechanisms, or exploring life's evolution on a molecular level, UCR is discovering new answers to many of the 21st century‚Äôs greatest questions. Students that successfully complete the Freshman Learning Communities program and have a strong interest in a research career are encouraged to apply for a paid, summer research position with a CNAS faculty member as a CNAS Scholars Fellow for the summer following their first year, as a participant in RISE

To find out more, you'll want to attend one of our info sessions, or schedule a meeting (see below). We will select students based on their Academic Performance through Winter quarter, their application, research proposal and the letter of support from their faculty mentor.

The RISE program is a 10-week summer program, running from the end of June through the last week in August. Students are expected to work 36-40 hours/week on their projects, and will receive faculty mentoring. In the remaining hours each week, students will also meet weekly with the Dean and fellow award recipients to discuss and share their research and engage in professional development workshops. CNAS Scholars Fellows will receive a $5,000 stipend, and will present their research at the end of the program.  CNAS Scholars Fellows also serve as the front face of student recruitment and engagement to the FSLC program!  Students will also meet weekly with the Dean and fellow award recipients to discuss and share their research.

How do you apply?
